How I decided to become a master electrician Part 1

My journey started in Augsburg, Germany. Both of my parents were in the military. As a really young child, I wanted to be a police officer and a barber. My grandfather was a very respected barber. As I grew up, I knew that I wanted to follow my own path in life. I felt like everyone should create their own path. I nearly changed my first name because of how I felt.
I went through life hating school for the most part. I liked to learn things. I loved reading and writing. I loved social studies and science. I hated math. I didn't enjoy most of my teachers. I felt like no one would really teach different concepts on how to learn how to do math equations. There is more than one way to do most things. My problem is that I didn't go to schools that would help children if they needed to learn other ways to do things.
I made it to 2003. I was in high school. From that point, until 2005, I didn't really have a home to call my own. Moving from place to place prevented me from making it to school on time or at all. I was on a path to graduate until that time period. July 2005 changed my life forever. I moved to Washington DC.
When I moved to DC, my only option was to find work. I couldn't go back to school. I needed to make a living. My only goal at that time was to survive. I had dreams of being a major league baseball reliever a few years before this time. That dream was over for sure once I moved.
I started working any job that I could find until I was hired as an overnight stock clerk at Harris Teeter. I worked there from 2006 until 2014. I worked hard each night. I was making enough to afford my first place to stay. I was proud to be able to finally pay rent. I knew that I didn't have to worry about where I would stay the next night anymore.
